Frequently Asked Questions
What types of stainless steel tanks or equipment do you manufacture?
Our core products include a wide range of sanitary tanks and vessels such as mixing tanks, storage tanks, aseptic tanks, and pressure vessels. We specialize in sanitary processing systems, including centrifuge extractors, crystallization reactors, filtration skids, complete cannabis/hemp extraction lines, commercial brewing systems, fermenters, and bioreactors. Additional equipment includes heat exchangers, steam jacketed kettles, distillation columns, CIP (clean-in-place) systems, flash and tunnel pasteurizers, high-shear mixers, vacuum homogenizers, sanitary pumps, valves, fittings, and full automation solutions. All products are built to stringent standards (ASME, 3A, UL, GMP) with an emphasis on custom fabrication, hygiene, and turnkey installation.
Do you build custom tanks or only standard sizes?
We specialize in custom stainless steel tanks and build the majority of our tanks to each customer’s exact specifications. Whether you need a specific capacity, unique dimensions to fit your facility, special fittings, agitation, heating/cooling jackets, ASME certification, or compliance with 3A, GMP, or pharma-grade requirements, we design and fabricate everything in-house.
We do maintain a few popular standard-size tanks (such as 50-gal and 100-gal mixing or storage tanks) for customers who want faster delivery and lower cost. In short, if you can draw it or describe it, we can build it — custom is our strength
What industries do you serve?
We primarily serve industries that require high-purity, sanitary stainless steel processing equipment. Our main markets are:
- Craft and large-scale brewing & distilling
- Food & beverage processing (dairy, sauces, edibles, ready-to-drink, cold brew coffee, etc.)
- Cannabis and hemp extraction & refinement
- Pharmaceutical & nutraceutical
- Biotech & life sciences
- Cosmetics & personal care
- Chemical & specialty chemical processing
Over 90 % of our projects fall into one of these sectors, and all of our equipment is designed and built to meet the specific regulatory and hygiene standards of each industry (ASME, 3A, GMP, FDA, UL, CRN, etc.). If your process involves liquids, semi-solids, or extraction and needs sanitary or ASME-coded stainless steel, we most likely serve your industry
Are your tanks food-grade and sanitary (FDA / 3A)?
Yes — all of our tanks and process equipment are built to food-grade and sanitary standards as standard practice.
- Material: 304 or 316L stainless steel (customer’s choice) with certified mill test reports
- Interior finish: 2B mill finish on storage tanks; Ra ≤ 32 µin (0.8 µm) mechanical polish standard on all process and mixing tanks; electropolish available (typically Ra ≤ 15 µin or better)
- Welds: Fully TIG-welded, argon-purged, and 100 % sanitary welds (no burn-through, full penetration, smooth and crevice-free)
- Design & components: Tri-clamp or sanitary fittings, sloped bottoms, CIP spray balls, and shadowless manways standard on sanitary tanks
- Compliance: Built to 3A sanitary standards (03-12, 00-01, etc.) when requested, and all food-contact surfaces meet FDA CFR 21 requirements. We routinely supply 3A third-party inspection certificates and FDA compliance letters with every tank.
If you need full 3A symbol authorization on the tank, ASME U-stamp, CRN, or PED certification, just let us know at the quoting stage — we handle all of those regularly
What is an industrial mixing tank and how is it used?
An industrial mixing tank is a sanitary stainless steel vessel specifically designed to blend, mix, emulsify, dissolve, or homogenize liquids, semi-solids, or viscous products uniformly and efficiently on a commercial scale.
Common uses include:
- Blending beverages (RTD cocktails, cold-brew coffee, energy drinks, plant-based milks)
- Mixing sauces, dressings, condiments, and edible oils
- Dissolving sugars, salts, stabilizers, or powders into liquids
- Emulsifying creams, lotions, and cosmetics
- Preparing cannabis or hemp infusions and tinctures
- Suspending solids (fruit pieces, herbs, botanicals)
- Creating pharmaceutical solutions, syrups, and nutraceuticals
- Heating or cooling batches with jacketed tanks while mixing
Key features that make it ‘industrial’ and sanitary:
- Heavy-duty agitator (top or bottom-mounted) with impellers chosen for your product (high-shear for emulsions, scrape-surface for viscous pastes, propeller for gentle blending, etc.)
- Jacketed options for steam heating or glycol chilling
- Precise temperature and speed control (often with VFD and automation)
- CIP spray balls for fast, validatable cleaning
- All food/pharma-grade welds and finishes (typically ≤ 32 Ra or electropolished)
- Built to ASME and 3A standards when required
In short, if you need consistent batch-to-batch quality at 100–10,000+ gallons, an industrial mixing tank replaces manual stirring or small blenders and becomes the heart of your production process.
Which industries benefit the most from your mixing tank systems?
Our mixing tanks are purpose-built for processes that demand perfect uniformity, strict hygiene, and repeatable batches. The industries that rely on them the most — and see the biggest returns — are:
- Beverage & RTD (ready-to-drink cocktails, canned coffee, energy drinks, functional beverages, cold-brew, plant-based milks) — for fast, lump-free blending and precise flavor consistency.
- Cannabis & hemp extraction/refinement (tinctures, distillates, edibles, topicals) — high-shear and scrape-surface mixing for winterization, decarboxylation, emulsification, and infusion.
- Food & condiment manufacturing (sauces, dressings, salsas, hummus, nut butters, soups, marinades) — jacketed tanks with scrape-surface or counter-rotating agitation to prevent burning and achieve smooth texture.
- Pharmaceutical & nutraceutical (syrups, suspensions, gels, CBD/THC formulations) — where GMP validation, electropolished finishes, and precise temperature control are non-negotiable.
- Cosmetics & personal care (lotions, creams, shampoos, serums) — vacuum mixing and high-shear emulsification for stable, air-free products.
- Craft brewing & distilling (fruit/beer blends, hard seltzer bases, botanical spirits) — large jacketed mix tanks for rapid ingredient incorporation and carbonation.
These sectors typically move from manual mixing or under-sized equipment to our systems and immediately gain higher throughput, better product consistency, easier cleaning/validation, and scalability — which is why 80–90 % of the mixing tanks we ship go to one of these industries
What materials are your mixing tanks made from?
Our mixing tanks are normally constructed from premium 304 or 316L stainless steel – the industry gold standard – because these alloys deliver an outstanding combination of strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term hygiene. 316L is especially popular in food, beverage, cannabis, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic applications due to its superior resistance to pitting and chlorides (common in salt, acids, flavorings, and cleaning chemicals).
That said, we regularly build tanks from specialty alloys when the process demands it:
- 904L stainless steel – for extremely corrosive environments (high concentrations of sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, or aggressive flavor compounds)
- AL-6XN – superb resistance to hot chlorides and seawater-type conditions
- Hastelloy C-22 / C-276 – when handling highly corrosive acids, bleach, or solvents at elevated temperatures
- Duplex 2205 / 2507 – for higher strength and chloride stress-corrosion cracking resistance
- Titanium (rare cases) – ultimate corrosion resistance in very aggressive chemical or saltwater processes
Material selection is always driven by your product chemistry, pH, temperature, cleaning regimen, and regulatory requirements. We provide material test reports (MTRs), certificates of conformity, and passivation/electropolishing certificates with every tank, regardless of alloy. If you’re unsure which material is best for your formulation, just share the details and our engineering team will recommend the most cost-effective, long-life solution.
Do your industrial mixing tanks support heating or cooling functions?
Yes — virtually all of our industrial mixing tanks can be equipped with heating and/or cooling capability. It’s one of the most common requirements we see, so we design it in from the start.
Here are the standard options we offer:
- Jacketed tanks (dimple, half-pipe, or conventional jacket) for steam, hot water, or thermal fluid heating
- Glycol or chilled water jackets for precise cooling or crash-cooling
- Electric heating elements (immersion or clamp-on) for smaller tanks or where steam isn’t available
- Dual-zone jackets (separate sidewall and bottom zones) for faster, more uniform temperature control
- Full insulation and stainless cladding to minimize heat loss and protect operators
- Integrated temperature sensors (RTD/PT100) and automated control via PLC or touch-screen HMI
- ASME “U” stamp and pressure rating on jackets when required (most food/beverage jackets are atmospheric or low-pressure, but we routinely build to 150–200 psi for steam or high-temp processes)
Typical applications:
- Heating sauces, chocolate, cannabis biomass, or cosmetic bases without scorching (with scrape-surface agitation)
- Rapid cooling of beverages, cold-brew coffee, or post-pasteurization products
- Maintaining exact temperatures during fermentation, winterization, or pharmaceutical compounding
In short, if your process needs to heat to 300 °F (149 °C) or cool to 34 °F (1 °C) while mixing, we have a proven configuration for it. Just let us know your target temperature range and cycle times — we’ll size the jacket and agitator accordingly
Can a mixing tank be customized to my production process?
Yes — 100 %. Customization is what we do best. Almost every mixing tank we ship is built or modified specifically for the customer’s exact process, product, and facility. ‘Off-the-shelf’ is the exception, not the rule.
Here are just some of the ways we routinely customize mixing tanks:
- Capacity & geometry: From 50 liters to 30,000+ liters, any diameter/height ratio, conical, dished, or sloped bottoms
- Agitation: Single or multiple agitators — high-shear emulsifiers, scrape-surface + anchor combos, counter-rotating, magnetic drive, bottom-entry homogenizers, propeller, turbine — whatever your viscosity and shear requirements demand
- Heating/cooling: Dimple, half-pipe, conventional, or electric jackets; single or multi-zone; steam, hot water, glycol, or thermal fluid
- Pressure/vacuum: Atmospheric, 150 psi, full vacuum, or ASME U-stamped and National Board registered
- Surface finish: Mechanical polish from 32 Ra down to 8 Ra, electropolish, passivation — whatever your sanitary or validation level requires
- Ports & fittings: Exact size, location, and type (tri-clamp, ASME flanged, sight glasses, spray balls, load cells, pH/conductivity probes, etc.)
- Automation: Basic VFD control up to full PLC/HMI with recipes, trending, 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, and integration into your plant SCADA
- Certifications: 3A, ASME, CRN, PED, CE, USDA, FDA letters, material certs — whatever your regulatory body requires
- Special features: Baffle designs, CIP/sterilization systems, nitrogen blanketing, explosion-proof (Class I Div 1/2), liftable lids, manways where you need them, etc.
Tell us your product (viscosity, solids %, temperature profile, batch time, cleaning method, regulatory needs) and we’ll design and quote a tank that drops into your line and performs perfectly from day one. We’ve done it thousands of times — your process won’t be the first unique one we’ve solved
